As you may be able to tell from the name of the game, drifting is important in this one. You get drift points depending on how much drift you get as your race around the track. Each drift is scored on its own with the points combining with your overall lap time and performance at the end of the lap. You want to get as many drift points as you can but remember the importance of staying in control of your car. Try to keep your drifting to the corners. This allows you a greater measure of control but also offers you the best chance of getting a decent drift score. Corners give you the best chances for a long, sharp drift. You want to hit them with a fair bit of speed but again, you also want to be sure you remain in control. It's very hard to maintain a decent rate of speed if you veer of the track and is even harder if you hit the tire obstacles.

The upgrades in World Drifting Championship are pretty straight forward but they can really help you get the best score possible. There are eleven different cars to choose from in total, each of which offers its own strengths and weaknesses. To access the different car choices, simply click on 'upgrade your car' at the bottom of the game screen. I would recommend going through a race or two to get a feel for the car you start out with and to get an idea of where you'll need the most help. Remember, drifting is important so more than just choosing a good car, you'll also want to upgrade the tires on your car. Each different car comes with three different tire types. Check out all of the different cars and try out the different tire types to see what works best for you.
