Speed Busters is one of those online driving games that employs a very simple premise but still manages to be entertaining and surprisingly addictive. There are no fancy upgrades with this one and no complicated goals and achievements to unlock. Instead, you're just in control of a car speeding down the highway with a pretty simple objective - take out all of the target cars before they're able to escape or before your car is destroyed. While it sounds extremely easy, actually doing what you're asked to do in this one can actually be pretty difficult. What really sets this game apart from many of the other driving games that follow a similar premise is that there's actually a sort of story to this one. Basically, there are some bad eggs on the road who just don't want to obey the traffic rules. These are the target cars. Is forcing the cars to crash a little heavy handed? Perhaps, but that's not for you to decide. You're there to do a job, and a rather difficult one at that. The story just gives the game a little added depth.

At its core, Speed Busters is actually a very simple game. The graphics are well done, especially for an online driving game, but they're not too flashy and over the top so they don't distract you from the task at hand but they still hold your attention. There are no fancy car upgrades because the car you start the game with is more than enough to get the job done. You don't have to worry about collecting bonuses and unlocking complicated achievements. This game is all about the driving and nothing more. That's really what makes this game so appealing. So many other games in the genre focus on loading up on extras that they forget the real reason people love driving games is the actual driving. That really isn't something you need to worry about in this game and while the premise really doesn't break any new ground in terms of originality, this game manages to avoid feeling bland or stale.

Doing well in Speed Busters requires a solid strategy, patience and focus. There are several different things on the game screen you need to be aware of if you want to beat this game. First and foremost, you need to focus on what the other cars on the road are doing. To destroy the cars you need to force them off the road. Each time you hit a target car though, you're taking damage to your own car. You can only take so much damage before you car is destroyed. You need to have a healthy car to take out all of the targets in each level. If you hit other cars on the way to your targets, you're lowering your health and leaving yourself in danger of not having enough health to eliminate all of your enemies. That's definitely not something you want. If your car is destroyed before you take out all of your targets, you lose.

The other cars on the road are really your biggest source of concern in Speed Busters. You need to pay attention to what they're doing. Some cars will swerve to the left, to the right or both. Pay attention to make sure you're ready to avoid those swerving cars. Sometimes you'll need to slow down to avoid cars. Do it. This isn't a racing game. You need to do what you can to prevent damage to your vehicle so it's ready and able to take out all of the target cars. If that means slowing down than you need to make sure you do it. There will be times throughout the game, especially in later levels, when you'll have no choice but to hit non-target cars. Hit them going as slow as possible. This minimizes the damage you take to your car.

There is a right way to take out a target car in Speed Busters and while there may not necessarily be a wrong way in the traditional sense of the word there is definitely a less than productive way. This is where good driving game skills will really come in handy. You need to figure out the best way to inflict maximum damage on a target car while taking minimum damage to your own car. A well times shot to the side of your target car that rams it into the side of the highway will deliver serious damage to the target - if not destroy it completely - but inflict very little damage on your own car. This is definitely the way you want to go. Slow down just as you're approaching the target so you can aim your car. Hit it with a decent amount of speed and then get out of the way as fast as possible. The target car is likely to spin out into your path so you want to avoid hitting the already destroyed target car.

The information at the top right side of your game screen in Speed Busters is extremely important. Make sure you pay attention to it. At the top, you'll see how far you've left to travel until you reach your next target. Pay attention to that. When you start getting closer to your target, start planning your attack. Get ready for it. Being prepared will offer you a huge advantage in this game. Below that, you have your health bar. This is obviously very important. You want to make sure you have at least enough health to take out all of your targets. If you're on your last target and have a fair amount of that health left, you can afford to be a little more careless. Minor bumps to other cars won't hurt you nearly as much as they would if you're on your last target but have very little health left. Finally, you'll see how many targets are remaining. Use this number with your health bar to try to gauge how you're going in the level. Those two factors will be a great indicator of whether you're going to pass or fail.

Overall, Speed Busters is the kind of driving game that will keep you on your toes and keep you entertained from start to finish. It's simple and to the point but it's also incredibly addictive. While many of the other driving games online try to hook players with lots of fancy upgrades, challenges and achievements, this one sticks with the basics; giving you a challenging and thoroughly entertaining game that puts your skills to the test and demands your full attention. This is the kind of driving game fans of the genre are going to absolutely love and for good reason. It's a driving game at its best - no bells and whistles needed.
