Polygon Racer 3D Walkthrough
At its core, Polygon Racer 3D is really not all that different from most of the other driving games online. Your goal is to make it from the start of the road to the end of the road within the time allowed. You have to do your best to avoid hitting the rails or other objects on the sides of the track. Every time you hit another object you will find that you're stunned or dazed and unable to accelerate for three seconds. Your car won't be destroyed but you'll definitely have a much harder time meeting the time requirement, especially if you hit multiple objects over the course of one race. This game requires solid technique and decent driving skills. Luckily, you will improve that technique and strengthen those skills as you practice and practice is a lot of fun with this game.
What really sets Polygon Racer 3D apart from most of the other driving games online is that the 3D in the title actually refers to 3D. If you have 3D glasses lying around the house, you can use them to get the full 3D gaming experience. Simply select the color scheme option you want from the race settings menu, put on your glasses and enjoy. In addition to the 3D aspect of the game, the regular graphics are much different than what you would expect to from an online driving game. There is no flashy scenery. There are no complicated backdrops, fancy cars or anything like that. The basic game is all in black and white. Although you can choose to change the color scheme, it never goes beyond a few simple colors. This is definitely appealing for those driving game fans who are tired of the focus being on flash and not on fun.
The game screen in Polygon Racer 3D is pretty easy to understand. All of the information you need to track the progress of your level is clearly displayed and easy to see from the main screen. At the top left corner of the screen you have a scale indicating your car's engine RPM and to the left of that, you have your current speed. At the top right corner of the screen you'll see the time you have left with which to complete the level and your current score. The bar at the top of the screen indicates your progress in the race which is handy if you want to know how far you've gone and how far you've left to go. All pretty simple but all very helpful if you want to get through the race.
Upgrading your car in Polygon Racer 3D is absolutely vital to making it through the game. If you don't upgrade, you don't stand a chance of making it through the later races in the game. You can purchase upgrades at the end of races with the credits you earn during your races. How many credits you earn from your race will depend on how well you do in that race. You get base points for each race depending on how far into the race you made it before you ran out of time. You will also get a bonus for completing the race and a bonus based on how much time was left on the clock when you completed the race. All this is added together to form your overall score and the number of credits you are issued will be decided based on that overall score.
This is pretty typical stuff in the world of driving games but things are a bit different with this one. For starters, newcomers are probably going to have a hard time even getting through the first race without upgrades. That doesn't mean you can't eventually get them, though. Run through the first race a few times, even if you don't reach the end, and save up the credits you get for each failed race. Purchase the upgrades you feel you need the most first. Credits are hard to earn. You don't want to waste them on upgrades you don't need right away. Look for the upgrades that will strengthen the areas in which your racing technique is lacking. Upgrading your tires is often a good way to go. It helps improve your braking and handling abilities. Engine and gearbox upgrades are also useful and vital with engine increasing your max speed and gearbox increasing your acceleration which will not only help you move over the track faster but will help you regain your speed more quickly if you run into something. Upgrading your acceleration will also help you get a faster start from the beginning, but again, if you're having a hard time even keeping your car under control, you want to focus on upgrading those tires first.
The best way to do well in Polygon Racer 3D is to pay close attention to how you handle corners. Corners can make or break your game. Hit them with too much speed and you're going to have a very hard time keeping your car from slamming into the railings around the corners. You don't need to brake when you hit them as some might suggest. Instead just back off the accelerator a bit or even just tap the acccelerator as you turn. This helps maintain your speed but also helps you maintain control of your car. It's also a good idea to try to stay in the middle lane of traffic at all times if at all possible. This gives you more room to maneuver your turns and greatly reduces the chance you'll fly off the edge of the track and hit an obstacle.
Overall, Polygon Racer 3D is one of the best driving games online simply because it looks and feels different and unique without being too far from the format most driving games fans are familiar with and appreciate. This is the kind of game any fan of driving games will enjoy. Newcomers are going to have a hard time with this one but it will be well worth it. You will improve as long as you stick with it. If you are a fan of racing games, driving games or just great games in general Polygon Racer 3D is something you absolutely cannot pass up.
