Ice Road Truckers 2 Walkthrough
Ice Road Truckers 2 is the second game in this excellent driving game series based on the hit television show on the same name. The greatest thing about this game is that it is different enough from most of the other driving games online that it feels fresh and new but isn't so different that it doesn't feel like a driving game at all. In truth, it's far more difficult than one would think when the game starts out. It can be extremely hard to keep your rig under control and if you fail to do that, you're going to find yourself in a whole lot of trouble. With that said, it is far from the most difficult driving game online but that in itself is a pretty significant benefit. It's challenging without being impossible. Newcomers and advanced players alike can have a good time with this one. It's definitely entertaining and far more addictive than one would expect a simple game such as this one to be.
Your goal in Ice Road Truckers 2 is pretty simple - earn as much money as you can as you drive five different Arctic routes. Complete as many different routes as you can as many times as you like to earn the most money you can possibly earn. It isn't simply a matter of struggling against the slippery roads you're driving on though. You'll also need to watch out for a myriad of obstacles put in your path to force you off course. Hitting these obstacles will cause damage to your vehicle but avoiding them sometimes means crashing into the side of the road which will also cause damage to your vehicle. Control is key in this one. Challenge number one in this one is learning how to keep your vehicle under control while still moving fairly quickly. There is a time limit you need to pay attention to, after all (shown at the top left of the game screen).
To survive in Ice Road Truckers 2, you need to remember three important factors; money, repairs and fuel. You don't want to run out of money or fuel and you definitely don't want to forget to repair any damage your truck takes on. A truck in good working order will be a lot harder to destroy and will perform much better in the game. Of course, careful driving is essential as well. If you don't take on a lot of damage, you don't need to worry about repairs nearly as much. With that said, it's extremely difficult to avoid taking damage to your truck considering you need to worry about the banks on the side of the road, cracks in the road, polar bears and other vehicles. All of those things will pop up with increasing frequency. Avoiding them can be difficult but try to prioritize. Polar bears and the banks on the side of the road don't cause nearly as much damage as other vehicles. The biggest danger to your vehicle, however, is the ice crack. If you hit a crack, your truck will break through the ice and be completely destroyed. If you have to choose between obstacles to hit, choose the side banks or polar bears before cars and choose anything over the cracks.
Upgrades are vital in Ice Road Truckers 2 as they are in most online driving games. If you're experienced with this genre, it should be too difficult to remember to check in with the shop on a regular basis to see what upgrades are available. Newcomers might not really understand the importance of upgrades in the beginning but as you advance, the need becomes clear. Don't put off upgrades. Get what you need when you need it to ensure the best possible performance from your truck. The upgrades are pretty straight forward as they are with most driving games. You have engine upgrades which increase your top speed, brake upgrades that improve your braking ability, tire upgrades that improve your traction and finally, the upgrade you won't find in most of the other driving games online, trailer upgrades. Trailer upgrades allow you to carry a bigger load which will bring in more money. Remember though, a heavier truck will move more slowly. Make sure you upgrade your tires, brakes and engine to keep everything balanced out.
The upgrade screen in Ice Road Truckers 2 also gives you access to repairs and fuel. Make sure you don't forget how important those two things are. Repairs are expensive but if your truck is heavily damaged, you absolutely need to get them. $100 will get you a 5% of your damage repaired. I would recommend only choosing to buy repairs if your truck is damaged to the point that you don't think you'll be able to make it through another run. This allows you to save money for upgrades, buy fuel if its needed but still earn more money for repairs on your next run. It's really a judgment call on your part. How much damage is acceptable to you depends on your skills as a driver. More experienced players are likely going to have an easier time navigating a route than newcomers so experienced players won't have to spend as much money on repairs. Figure out what you actually need and focus on those things instead of just doing repairs because you have the money. The actual truck upgrades are well worth saving that money for.
Overall, Ice Road Truckers 2 is a great little driving game that will keep you entertained and keep you playing. This isn't the sort of game you're going to play once or twice and then move on. It's going to keep you coming back. As you play, you gain more experience which will help you determine what you need to keep better control of your truck. The bonuses you can pick up on the road are just one more feature that make this game so much fun. Fuel bonuses and cash bonuses can help you get a better score so you can get a fully upgraded, awesome truck that will serve you well in this challenging but not impossible driving game. It's well worth a play for any fan of online driving games.
