Formula Racer Walkthrough

In some ways, Formula Racer is much like most of the other driving games or racing games online. Your goal is to get through the race as quickly as you can so you can reach the end and unlock the next track. What sets this game apart from many of the others, however, is the difficulty of the races and the extras that come along with the game. There are some flaws in the game that become more and more clear as you play (the lack of a mini map is a big one) but there are flaws in any game and with a game this fun, it hardly matters if not everything is completely perfect. With unique upgrades, excellent graphics and truly challenging levels, this is a game any driving game fan will certainly enjoy regardless of skill or experience level.

As is the case with most of the other driving games online, upgrades are important in Formula Racer. In this game though, upgrades look a bit different than they do in other games and that will take a little getting used to. You can upgrade your car up to level 16 but you don't actual purchase individual upgrades for your car as you would in other games. Instead, you a setup triangle with the three areas you can improve marked on each corner; engine at the top, handling at the bottom left and boost on the bottom right). In the center of the triangle, you have a second smaller triangle and then your cursor in the center. This setting triangle allows you to choose the setting of your car. Click the cursor and drag it around the smaller circle in the center of the bigger triangle. As you drag the cursor, the stats for your car (shown on the left side of the screen beside the triangle) will change. If you want to strengthen you car's handling, drag your cursor towards that. The indicator bar for your car's handling will increase. When you're satisfied with the handling you can begin your race. Each time you upgrade your car, that smaller middle triangle will get larger allowing you to have more control over your car's settings.

One of the greatest tools you have at your disposal in Formula Racer is by far the kinetic boost. The kinetic boost will offer you an incredible speed boost that will definitely help you get a leg up on your competition. As you drive, the kinetic boost will strengthen. Your boost level rises on its own without requiring you to do anything other than drive but keep in mind, it build much faster when you're in reverse. Once your boost is at least 20% you will be able to use it, but don't rely on it too heavily. Once you've used it you will need to start allowing it to build up again. Save that boost for when you need it. You also need to watch out for other cars. If you hit another car you will lose some of that boost you've stored up. The best way to use your boost is to use it just as you come out of a turn and are entering a straight stretch. You don't have to worry about keeping your car under control as much on straight parts of the track other than to avoid the other cars.

As with most racing games or driving games online, knowing how to take corners is vital in Formula Racer. You need to make sure you don't hit those corners with too much speed or you're almost certainly going to crash. Crashing won't end your game but it will make it much, much harder for you to place in the race. In most cases, merely finishing the race will be enough to earn you enough cash to unlock the next track, but if you actually want to come in first, you need to avoid crashing. Crashing gives your opponents not only the chance to catch up to you but also surpass you in many cases. You can be doing fairly well in a race, crash once and find yourself in last place. It can happen that quickly. The best way to handle corners is to ease off on the accelerator and simply tap it as you turn. This allows you to maintain a bit of speed but also allows for much greater control of your car.

Overall, Formula Racer is a wildly entertaining, engrossing driving game with great graphics and enough difficulty to keep even experienced players entertained. Newcomers might have a bit of a hard time with this one in the beginning but stick with it. You will do better with practice and in this game, practice is tons of fun. Get your upgrades, watch those corners and use your kinetic boost wisely and you should do fine in this game. If you're a fan of racing games, driving games or formula 1 games, you need to put this one at the top of your must-play list. It's far too much fun to pass up.
